Quick Overview

Root Rot Systemic Fungicide 2 x 500ML (1 Litre)

Root rot is a professional grade fungicide containing phosphorus acid which is used to control phytopthora root rot, collar rot, crown rot and downy mildew. Phosphorous acid has been well established as a cost effective fungicide protectant for citrus trees, avocadoes, grapes and ornamentals.

Root rot will look black and will feel mushy and can be caused by prolonged exposure to overwatered conditions that can cause some of the roots to die back due to a lack of oxygen and as they die they can start to decay and rot away. The rot can then spread to healthier roots and kill them as well even if the soil conditions are corrected.

The other way root rot can occur is if fungus lay dormant in soil indefinitely and then it may suddenly flourish when the plant is overwatered. The root rot fungus attacks the roots and causes them to die and rot away. Whether the problem is prolonged overwatering or a that caused a root rot fungus flare up, you must act quickly. Treating root rot ASAP will give you plant the best chance to survive.

Treat the root rot by removing the plant from the soil and washing the roots under running water. Wash away as much soil and affected roots as possible while being gentle with the plant. Next use a sharp, clean pair of shears or scissors to trim away all of the remaining affected roots leaving only the healthy clean white ones. Dip the remaining healthy roots in a fungicide solution like root rot to kill off any possible root rot fungus.
